The Smith's residence is a fully realized smart home. Crestron touchpanels are installed throughout the home, including TPMC-8X Wifi Touchpanels and multiple TPS-4L 3.6" active matrix color in-wall touchscreens.  in addition Crestron APAD controllers offer simple iPod-like control in the kids bedrooms and the Gym.  The wireless remotes are 8.4" touch sensitive remotes that control all aspects of the home, music system, and TV's wirelessly so you're not tied down.  These stylish Wi-Fi touchpanel feature the Windows� XP Embedded OS which means more than Crestron control including the ability for web browsing, streaming audio and video, IP intercom, and viewing and presenting digital multimedia. The TPS-4L units are located in key locations throughout the home.  One on each level including the Kitchen, Master Bedroom and Office mean you are never more than a couple steps away from controlling nearly anything in your home. The brains of the system are provided by Crestron's control system, with three of CNX-PAD8A audio-distribution processors paired with awesome multichannel amplifiers providing 24 zones of audio.  This home rocks, literally!

In addition to routing existing audio sources to their desired locations, (including an FM and XM radio, a Music Server - like an iPod for the home and cable music) this system can integrate any music or video device on the market including iPod docks and movie server systems like Kaleidescape.  All this is done easily as all of the 10 screens in the home provide feedback - the iPod, FM radio or XM all tell you what you're listening to and what's available on other channels or playlists.  Even the simple remotes for the TV in the kitchen or kid's common area can talk to the Crestron system for advanced home control.  All computers are networked through commercial grade Cisco routers with wireless access points distributed for full access from any location in the sprawling house.

Lighting, sure we got that.

In a house of this size, a Vantage lighting system is a necessity. Extended bulb life and energy savings are icing on the cake. Hundreds of lighting circuits are managed, with switch and scene programming done to customer specifications.  Integration with the Crestron system is possible to more easily manage the whole home from one location.

 

 

Another nice touch is the Caddx by GE security system, which deploys various sensors throughout the property to provide burglar and fire protection as well as heat, smoke, and carbon-monoxide detection.  With cell system backup the call goes through even if the phone lines are disabled. Several security cameras feed a Samsung DVR recording system. System status - including perimeter door/window unauthorized-entry detection and interior intruder detection - can be monitored on alarm keypads in the home or via  the Crestron system.
